OTP Bank Liga: Last two teams relinquish perfect records

Ferencváros drew 1-1 at home against Paks and Honvéd crashed to visitors MOL Vidi as the last two teams with 100% records relinquished their flawless starts and dropped their first points so far this season.

The top three teams in the league are all from Budapest, leaders Fradi and second-placed joined by newly-promoted MTK Budapest after they gained a creditable 3-3 draw away at Debrecen, although they may rue the concession of an added-time equaliser from Csaba Szatmári which deprived them of two further points. Talisman József Kanta had given Tamás Fecskó's men a 15th-minute lead but Ádam Bódi levelled matters on 41 minutes before László Lencse gave the visitors the lead again just before half-time. Former national-team striker Lencse doubled his tally on 75 minutes but Tamás Takács pulled one back three minutes from the end of normal time and Szatmári completed Loki's comeback in the 95th minute.

Ferencváros started explosively in what would turn out to be their final match under the stewardship of head coach Thomas Doll, the German coach departing the club by mutual consent on Tuesday. Ivan Petryak gave the 'Green Eagles' a third-miute lead before hitting the woodwork later in the half but János Hahn headed in Lajos Bertus's delicious cross to restore parity on the stroke of half-time, 1-1 turning out to be the final score.

Honvéd also contrived to lose their flawless record this season but in rather more comprehensive style, goals from István Kovács, Szabolcs Huszti and Anel Hadzic condemning the 2017 champions to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of MOL-Vidi, the reigning Hungarian league title-holders. Meanwhile, the top tier's other capital-city team, Újpest, salvaged a 1-1 draw at home to Mezőkövesd, Donát Zsótér's late strike cancelling out Attila Szalai's fourth-minute opener. The same scoreline was recorded in Felcsút as goals from Josep Knezovic for hosts Puskás Akadémia and Lucas for Kisvarda ensured a share of the spoils for both teams.

The sixth match of the weekend saw Diósgyőr's Barnabás Tóth head the only goal of their home match against Haladás to ease his side's early worries at the lower end of the NB I table.
