Practical approach necessary in Netherlands too
Hungary Men's forward Roland Sallai claims the team should not use an open style of play in the Netherlands and should instead play with the same attitude as in October when a 1-1 draw was earned against favourites the Netherlands in the Puskás Arena.
Head coach Marco Rossi's squad met for the first day of the current camp in Telki on Monday, ahead of the away Nations League match against the Netherlands and the concluding fixture at home against Germany. Following Monday's regeneration day, the entire squad trained together on Tuesday with the exception of Bendegúz Bolla.
Before Tuesday's training session, Roland Sallai and one of this week's potential international debutnats, Levente Szabó, answered journalists' questions.
"I expect a similar game against the Dutch as at home in the Puskás Arena (last month)", Sallai explained. "It'll be very difficult for us, so we have to show the same compact game as at home and I hope it'll bring points again against one of the best national teams in the world. At the same time, we have to stay grounded in reality, because the Dutch are favourites to win the match and it'd be a big achievement to spring a surprise. We want to avoid conceding a goal in the first 10-15 minutes and we mustn't open up, because otherwise we could end up in a match like the one we played away against Germany. I'm always happy when young, quality players are included in the national team, and I'm sure that the new call-ups will be able to replace those who are absent this time."
Levente Szabó then emphasised he'd been very kindly welcomed by his teammates and that he already knows quite a few of them from earlier in his career."
"I'd like to be able to show the form I've shown in recent weeks at my club Braunschweig and if I'm successful in this, I'm confident I'll be able to help the team", the 25-year-old forward opined.
Hungary's men's national squad will prepare in Telki until Friday before leaving for Amsterdam, where Marco Rossi will hold a press conference on Friday afternoon.
