Rossi: We surprised Germany at times
Hungary's head coach was quick to highlight his players' superb attitude as he summarised his thoughts on Tuesday's 1-1 Nations League home draw with group winners Germany.
Following the conclusion to Hungary Men's fixture list for 2024, Marco Rossi was happy to express his satisfaction with Tuesday's 1-1 home draw with Germany and emphasised how he felt a point was well deserved:
"We played well and stuck to our tactics right to the end. We had a lot of goalscoring chances and could have scored a goal before Germany did. Let's not forget that it was Germany who was our opponent, so we can be satisfied with a draw. This evening we battled tremendously and fought for every ball - we tried to win every 50/50 and from the first minute until the last, the right ambition was there in the players. We were lucky in the final stages and I hope fortune will remain by our side from now on. We've not lost at home since the match versus Italy in 2022 and the motivation to play in front of supporters such as these continues to grow so that we are capable of more with them than without them. In our play, there were mistakes tonight, in our passing and simple situations, but having said that, a draw was very much deserved. We had chances to score, we counter-attacked many times and at times we succeeded in surprising the Germans. The only blemishes on our autumn record are the five-goal and four-goal away defeats which annoy me a lot, but we have to realise the calibre of teams to whom we suffered those defeats."
