Rossi's squad gathers in Telki

Tuesday morning saw the final members of Marco Rossi's Hungary men's squad gather in Telki ahead of the two preparation matches against Sweden and Azerbaijan early this month.

Head coach Marco Rossi had every one of his players available for training in Telki on Tuesday, with the exception of striker Barnabás Varga, who was rehabilitating separately due to a minor injury rather than practising with his teammates on the centre pitch of MLSZ's training centre.

Before the training session, journalists were able to ask questions to new face Milán Vitalis and veteran goalkeeper Dénes Dibusz as part of the usual press event. The young ETO midfielder has spent a lot of time with the youth national teams in Telki in recent years, but being a member of the full national squad is still an unusual feeling for him:

"I knew the community would be very welcoming, so I expected that there'd be no problem with integration. Indeed, everyone has been very nice to me since my arrival - they congratulated me and were very helpful in the first few days. It's still a bit unusual to be part of the full squad, but I'm really enjoying being here," Vitalis explained.

Meanwhile, Dénes Dibusz emphasised that the team is facing two completely different opponents with varying styles and skills, but the goal is the same; to end the matches successfully.

"We'll face two opponents with different styles and different qualities, but the goal will be to win both matches. In addition, these matches give the captain the opportunity to try out new players, move some people to different positions, or try out an alternative playing system during the match. This can all help us approach the matches in autumn with a wider tactical repertoire," said Dibusz, who also revealed that he'd been surprised by Péter Gulácsi’s retirement because he thought the RB Leipzig goalkeeper would continue his international career until the end of the World Cup campaign, but he knows very well that Gulácsi had to make a very difficult decision and everyone must respect it.

The national squad will train in Telki on Wednesday morning, Thursday afternoon, and will host the Swedish national team in the Puskás Arena from 19:30 CET on Friday. A limited number of tickets for the match are still available for purchase at meccsjegy.mlsz.hu.
