Videoton win third Hungarian championship title

Videoton became champions of Hungary for the third time in their history on Sunday by defeating last season's title-winners Budapest Honvéd 2-0 in the Székesfehérvár club's temporary home of Felcsút, thereby ensuring they remain three points clear of silver medallists Ferencváros going into the last round of fixtures with the head-to-head record in their favour. Elsewhere, Diosgyőr and Vasas occupy the two relegation places but three other teams are in danger of the drop with just one match remaining.

This OTP Bank Liga triumph is the third national title for the club founded in 1941, the previous two coming in 2011 and 2015, and ensures entry to the qualification stages of the UEFA Champions League. Runners-up Ferencváros will enter the Europa League qualifiers along with two other Hungarian clubs, Újpest being one thanks to last week's Hungarian Cup success with the other to be the highest-placed league team out of Debrecen, Honvéd or Paks.
