Women's national team arrive for Cyprus Cup

Head coach Edina Markó has taken 24 players with her to Cyprus for the tournament which is due to begin at the end of February.

Hungary Women have started each of the past two springs by participating in the Cyprus Cup so they were delighted to receive and accept this latest invitation to contest the trophy. The organisers conducted the group-stage draw themselves and this pits Hungary against North Korea, South Africa and Slovakia, after which they will play a play-off match to determine their overall finishing position in the competition.

For Hungary, the tournament will serve as preparation for their World Cup qualifiers this spring, the first of those coming less than a month after their return from Cyprus on April 5th when Markó's team entertain Sweden in Szombathely and the second following four days later with an away fixture in Croatia.

Unfortunately, Markó won't be able to count on the services of the injured Dóra Zeller but alongside other exeprienced players there will be a youthful element to the squad with Lilla Turányi, Anna Csiki, Diána Csányi and Boglárka Horti, the latter returning from a long-term injury, all able to celebrate their first international call-ups in Cyprus.
